You need an agility flask
2. Agility food.
3. Cat pet (Call of the wild + agility buff)
4. An agility on-proc trinket. Key to the endless chamber or PvP trinket
5. An agility on-use trinket. Unsolveable riddle, or PvP trinkets
6. Potion of the Tol'Vir

Now that you got all of that, here comes the hard part.

7. Get berserking in a bg.
8. Kill something in close proximity to a squishy. Mages or rogues usually work well. For rapid killing. Hopefully this will make your trinket proc as well. This is the hard part.
9. Hunters mark the squishy, pop rapid fire, call of the wild, potion of the tol'vir, activate trinket and let the aimed shot fly!
10. Duck, there will be a shockwave.

11. For added bonus, have a rogue friend follow you around. He can stun the target to make it easier to aimed shot, and can give it expose armor. Ask for tricks when you are using the rest of your cooldowns, but make sure he doesn't get the target below 80%.Bandethttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02011959819376851966noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6269553831969325196.post-28736395102697142602011-02-13T10:36:00.000-08:002011-02-13T10:50:18.939-08:00To be MM or not to beIsn't much of a question.

Sv is pretty bad right now, although it is much easier to play.

My thoughts on the recent changes:

1. Master's call being dispelled. What were they thinking? Seriously..
-Hunters do not have damage mitigation, the only way to avoid damage is by not taking it, which is what we are balanced around. This nerf to our best damage prevention ability is possibly one of the worst changes to the class ever. Also, they weren't thinking very clearly seeing as now we are the only class that has a very important buff to dispel and zero trash buffs to mask it. I am pretty certain that when they changed its animation, they just took freedom and renamed it, and that made it dispellable and what made the cooldown 45 seconds instead of 35. It was never hotfixed to be dispellable, it was always since 4.06 came out, the only thing they hotfixed was the tooltip. Pretty sad this is how far they will go to avoid admitting to being wrong. Crippling a class, but they never much cared for us anyways.

2. Deterrence while disarmed. Cute. I could deterrence while disarmed when I was dual-wielding before the patch, now I can't. Kinda went the wrong way, didn't you blizzard? On the other hand, I am very very happy rogues cant cheap shot me anymore.

3. Concussive shot glyph. Would have been really good, if it worked.
It makes it so they can't run above 100%, but they are slowed by 50% for the duration, so they wouldn't be over 100% anyways.. Essentially, it does nothing unless they are on a epic flying mount. Kind of dropped the ball here. This is supposed to be able to negate speed-increasing effects, like sprint for example. When a rogue is slowed by 50% and they sprint, it is 70% increased from 50%, not 70% of 100, minus 50%. When a rogue is dazed and sprinting they are going at ~75%, the glyph is supposed to make them be going at 50%.

4. Arcane shot damage increase. Never happened.

5. SV nerfs. Now, SV hunters use explosive trap and spam arcane shot to do their maximum dps. That is a 100% flat out fail in class design, we told them it would do that, we proved it on the ptr, they didn't care. Now, the spec is worthless.

5. Aimed shot, chimera shot, and kill shot. WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Basically, all we got was a damage boost to aimed/chimera/and kill shot. Extremely lackluster for a class at 1% arena representation. They even gave us NERFS, and they are discussing nerfing aimed shot... Safe to say that whatever they are smoking that makes hunters look playable, they need to share it with me.Bandethttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02011959819376851966noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6269553831969325196.post-89266439802397126412011-02-13T10:28:00.001-08:002011-02-13T10:35:52.157-08:00My UI<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 180px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-UTI5OK1HVgY/TVgi60EUIKI/AAAAAAAAACk/B3WJj4uSmXc/s320/UI.png" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5573242932675485858" />

Here is my current UI. Pretty similar to my old but there are some significant changes.

1. You may notice that nifty focus bar above my cast. That is an addon called hunterfocusbar and it is VERY good. I highly recommend it. It simply shows all relevant procs, improved steady shot, locknload, all that sort of thing and puts it above a focus bar. The little green section of the bar represents how much focus you will be at when steady shot finishes the cast. As we are now forced into marksmanship, it is a much more challenging spec as you have to constantly keep an eye on everything at once instead of just pressing buttons when locknload happens to proc. Having all of this information in one spot is a godsend.

2. That little double arrow above the focus bar is made from power auras, it represents rapid fire is online. I can do this with any buff should I desire, including trinket procs.

3. You may notice debuffs above the targets head. That is called platebuffs, and is VERY good for PvP. You can configure every buff/debuff in the game as to show it or not, so you can very easily see when an enemy pops a CD, how long something you aren't targeting will remain trapped, and all that sort of stuff.

4. Yes, I am a draenei. The 20% heal has saved me many times.

5. Yes, I am wearing 2200 gear. I am a grand marshal in RBG rating now.Bandethttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02011959819376851966noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6269553831969325196.post-65546067471619061492011-01-21T07:57:00.000-08:002011-01-21T08:00:50.184-08:00Rated BG's and youSo I have been running rated bgs for some time now. I currently lead the top rated team on my server (And while there is no real team, the top rated people are in my group)

Strangely enough, I do not actually kill things in a rated bg. I am brought entirely for utility... and because the group is mine. >.>

My main roles:
1. Scout
2. Fast Response
3. Ninja
4. Escort
5. CC

Scout
Pretty simple, track humanoids + eagle eye means I can give constant reliable information on enemy movement, which is EXTREMELY important.

Fast Response
Simple put, no one but a hunter can disengage from combat so reliably and consistently to leave a battle to get somewhere quickly. Feign Death is very powerful. Running to defend another base that is under attack, running to intercept an enemy flag carrier, or running to help a friendly.

Ninja
Yeah so.. I have found that no one is as good at taking a base as me. I can see very clearly how many people are defending, I can sit in stealth for as long as I need, wait for a respawn to leave, I can CC someone effectively to cap a flag. Trinkets or paladins don't stop me, I can just cc them once and run away from the base until trap is reset and re-attack, when they cannot trinket, and I can kill nearly anyone in a 1v1 if required. (a 1v1 in a bg with no duel range and me getting guaranteed openers is really stacked in my favor). Also, the fact that I can approach relatively stealthily means they will not get reinforcements. If only one person attacks, I find that they will not send more to defend (especially when it is only a hunter attacking) They will only rapidly come to defense if it is two or more.

Escort
As a class that has the ability to cc multiple people at once, as well as give freedom, paired with an immunity to crit cooldown and ability to be a fast responder, I can get to a flag carrier in a pinch and help him until we get help, and if he dies I can grab the flag, while I may die very soon, I am the only class that can be completely immune to damage (except dots) while still holding the flag, if even for a very short time. I also have the ability to give the flag carrier pack, which means we don't necessarily have to have a druid running the flag.

CC
My cc is no where near reliable as another class, it doesn't scale with spell pen and has a fairly long cooldown, but I can cc multiple people at once, or one person for a pretty long duration, and all of my cc abilities are instant cast so I can do it if someone is trying to stop me.Bandethttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02011959819376851966noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6269553831969325196.post-21627477320866468452011-01-21T07:56:00.000-08:002011-01-21T07:57:37.937-08:00Regarding people crying about dungeon difficulty.Stop complaining that this game "doesn't cater to causals". It does. Your definition of casual is the problem.

Casual: Someone who doesn't play very often.

That is it. That is all. Casual is simply that and nothing more.

Casual is NOT "I play what spec I like because I like it and to hell with the consequences"
Casual is NOT "I don't want to learn how to properly play"
Casual is NOT "I shouldn't have to understand the boss fight"

It is simply someone that doesn't play often.

Does that mean a casual player never does some of the things listed? Of course they do, but that is different from being a casual. Casual is a very, very, simple definition, and people here are applying it to WAY to many things, things that have stretched reality too far.

This game caters to casuals. Here is why:

1. There is a limit to how much you can accomplish in a week. Someone, for example, who logs on once to clear a raid and then is never seen again will advance at the same pace as someone who logs on 8 hours every day, because there is a limit to amount of raids you can do a week. Doesn't matter how much you play, the raid won't reset until Tuesday.

2. There is a limit to conquest points. Playing more PvP does not mean you will get more points than the weekly cap. Playing more might mean you get more points next week, but someone who wins 10 games and loses 0 will still advance more quickly than someone who wins 10 and loses 50, and in the end there is a maximum cap to how many conquest points you can actually earn a week (It is somewhere slightly over 3000)

3. There is a limit to honor. While the amount of honor you gain is directly related to how much you play, you are hard capped to how much gear you actually get from honor. One person might play a lot and get it all in a week, but then they cannot get any more. One person might take a month to get it all, but they still end up at the same spot. There is a hard cap to everything. This rule is for casuals who do not play as often, so they may get gear more slowly, but it is essentially impossible to be left behind. Slow and steady WILL catch up, eventually. You can only get so far ahead.

4. There is a limit to heroic gear. Same principle as honor. Someone who does more heroics might gear up faster, but you can only get so much gear from heroics. Once you have all the gear, you don't gain anything from heroics, because there is a hard cap enforced to prevent people who play a lot from getting past causals. The same applies to JP gain. There is a cap to the gear you can buy with it.

5. There is a limit to valor points. Similar to #1, raid lockout, you can only get so many valor points per week regardless of how much you play, and eventually you will even be capped out on what you can buy with valor points.

Essentially, it doesn't matter how much you play, you are all hard capped to the amount of gear you can actually get. Someone who plays more might get it a week or two before someone who plays less, but that is the extent of it.

So, please. Stop complaining that WoW does NOT cater to casuals, because it does. If you are complaining about something being "too hard" and thus doesn't cater to casuals you are flat out wrong. Difficulty has no relation to casuals, many casuals are very skilled.

If you are having a problem with difficulty of the game at any point, it isn't because this game doesn't cater to casuals or that you are "casual" because this game does. It is because you refuse to step up to the next level.

Blizzard will not dumb it down for you. Stop confusing "Casual" with "Bad" and improve yourself. Heroics are NOT hard.Bandethttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02011959819376851966noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6269553831969325196.post-38859698840802357732010-12-19T07:11:00.000-08:002010-12-19T07:27:24.241-08:00I have ascended to hunter SSJ!I am not entirely sure how, but I managed to get both aspect of the fox and hawk on at the same time. I have been close before, doing it by accident with hawk and cheetah or pack, but since I didn't quite understand how it works I haven't gotten it just right.

But today, by complete accident I managed to get hawk and fox on at the same time.

Hawk seems to be passive, and I can change fox to cheetah/pack/wild without losing it. I am not entirely sure how I did it, but I am positive it has something to do with camo and buffing changing aspects within/without of it. Try it for yourselves and see if you can't ascend to the next level of hunterdom, odds are you have already done it and didn't realize it.

CONFIRMED

All I did was have fox active, then turn on camo and as quick as I could turn on hawk.. and they both stuck.Bandethttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02011959819376851966noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6269553831969325196.post-53163937675706174562010-12-14T09:19:00.000-08:002010-12-14T09:39:36.470-08:00How to be a master of CCSo as you probably know by now, heroics are actually heroic and CC is pretty much required for the majority of them.

What you might NOT know is how amazing hunters are at the CC game. I can keep 6 mobs "CC'd" at once If I need to. My guild loves me for it.

How to do it.

1. Pre-trap. Traps will last a minute before poofing again. That means you can put a trap down, and then after you pull a mob onto it you can instantly trap a second one.

2. Wyvern sting. Not much needs to be said, target something and use it. This should always be the second kill target due to the fact that it lasts only 30 seconds and has a dot after wards.

3. Kite one. After you trap two and wyvern one, you can just taunt another and kite it. You should probably be mindful of which mobs you can actually kite and which you can't. Most of the melee mobs are slow and can be snared, but some charge or do other things. You really won't have to do this much, most pulls aren't that big but it is useful when your tank is fighting more than one cc-immune mobs. Generally, depending on the mob you can just shoot it and book it with cheetah and disengages.

4. Have a tenacity pet tank one. A bear or turtle will do just fine. They have things like cower and shell shield that should make it able to live for some time. Just mend pet it and the healer should be able to keep it up until the tank can grab it.

5. Trap mastery. With this your trap lasts ~80 seconds and as SV your trap CD should be 24 seconds. That means you can keep 3 mobs trapped forever. You cannot do this right at the start, you can only do a max of 2 at the beginning, (unless you are MM, but then you lose wyvern so there isn't much difference). You have to trap a third after 24 seconds. This can be useful for a class like a rogue or a paladin that can't re-sap for example, or for mobs that spawn as the time goes on. I usually have a warlock switch his fear to my wyvern sting after 24 seconds and I trap his fear target. You really won't need to do this on trash pulls, since they are over so fast but it makes Beauty on heroic blackrock caverns easymode.Bandethttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02011959819376851966noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6269553831969325196.post-5738773596367655812010-12-11T15:55:00.000-08:002010-12-11T15:57:34.877-08:00Server first 85 hunter!Yeah I both did and didn't get it.

I WAS the first to 85, by about 7 minutes, but I have not been on the server for 60 days so I wasn't eligible for the achievement. :(

I really didn't prepare for it or plan anything, I just went and leveled. This was mainly done to prevent people from speed leveling by tagging mobs out of party and having the group kill them, like how athene did to get the world first 80.

Kind of funny, since he went out of his way to confirm that he couldn't get banned for what he was going to, then got banned anyways.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ibSWooWOiO0

Anyways... In case anyone was planning on trying this, don't bother it won't work. This also means pets gain shitty experience in lvl 80 heroics. So don't try to level your pets unless you want to do it grinding mobs in the world. Also, when you hit 85 all your pets will be 82 anyways, so it is pointless to get them to 80 unless it is the pet you plan on leveling with.Bandethttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02011959819376851966noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6269553831969325196.post-48703978094628662312010-12-03T08:51:00.001-08:002010-12-03T09:27:48.163-08:00Best Leveling spec in Cata? This is on everyone's mind. What will you level as in cata? Well fear not!! I have figured it out already.

During the extensive pre-cataclysm boredom stage, I decided to knock out loremaster of northrend. I haven't bothered with the old world one because I knew in cataclysm you will be able to fly in it. Also, it is a LOT easier now with a combination of quest number achievements by zone instead of just a total quest count, so I am glad I waited.

But basically, let us go through each spec with the pros and cons before I give you my opinion.

First off, BM.<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 121px; height: 320px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_gNudeSI90HM/TPkiXTkkGfI/AAAAAAAAACE/iJatyjHeru0/s320/bm.png" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5546502199869446642" /> For the longest time BM has been regarded as "The leveling spec". Mainly because the pet would be tanking throughout the majority of leveling, so a spec that increases the durability of the pet as well as the threat it puts out seems ideal and makes it very easy. Also, the pet doing most of the damage the process is mostly automated and you don't have to do that much. Kind of like first-class service. But, in cataclysm, pet threat is a nonfactor. We have the amazing glyph of misdirection which resets the cooldown when it is cast on our pet. So with any spec, our pet has 100% threat regardless.
Also, all of our pets have had enormous buffs to their durability. Mend pet is buffed as well as proper scaling from our gear. They are in no real fear of dying anytime soon.

But BM is not completely useless! It is very good with the new focus mechanic, your pet has good regeneration and it is pulling most of the weight, and you get cooldowns that help your focus like fervor and the beast within that reduces cost by 50%, but most importantly I enjoy the faster mount speed, an all purpose bonus to questing, and not to mention the self-heals from the spirit beast, a godsend in our time.

But what I feel this spec lacks is that it is extremely cooldown-reliant. It is only focus efficient for a short duration and then is pretty poor between fights. While leveling, you will be constantly killing without pause, and this spec loses its benefits.

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 168px; height: 320px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_gNudeSI90HM/TPkkfpdMIoI/AAAAAAAAACM/lhSri-SODPQ/s320/sv.png" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5546504542206304898" />Survival. My staple tree of specialization, and the currently best raiding and pvp spec in cataclysm. This is obviously the best choice for leveling, right? In my opinion, it isn't.

"Why not?", you might ask. One, this tree has no survivability. No self heals. Second, this tree has zero focus regeneration outside of procs. That means it isn't good for rapid leveling without annoyance. Example, Shoot explosive shot, mob dies, shoot explosive shot, second mob dies.. You are now completely OOF and have no way of regenerating save spamming steady shot or waiting. This is why I won't level with this spec. Also, this spec has damage that is very dependent on your debuffs on the target. Serpent sting, 10% more damage, (not to mention that your dots crit a lot harder than as other specs) Black arrow, ticks hard and procs locknload. That means a typical SV rotation is black arrow, serpent sting, explosive shot. Then the mob is dead before the dots get to use their full effect. So then you are simply ending up with neglecting your maximum potential dps to just spam explosive shot. That could work, but then you run out of focus with no way to restore. I have a better solution.

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 168px; height: 320px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_gNudeSI90HM/TPkmHSuVaOI/AAAAAAAAACU/qX9gmhl7Sbc/s320/MM.png" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5546506322810595554" />Marksmanship. My spec of choice for leveling. Why? Well, first off it requires extremely minimal buttons to press. You press two buttons to kill things, chimera shot and arcane shot. They require no shots to be set up beforehand, they will apply Hunter's mark, chimera shot no longer needs serpent sting so you do not even have to use it. Other than that, the PRIMARY reason why MM is the superior spec is rapid recovery. Every time you kill a mob, you get 50 focus back. 'Nuff said. If this tree had ONLY that I would be sold, but it has far more. It has very nice aoe damage with bombardment, as well as using concussive barrage you can effectively kite multiple mobs at once. Silencing shot. A very useful ability for the inevitable caster mobs that you'll encounter while questing as well as those elite quests that only hunters can solo, because we are so pro. It also has readiness, so you can do whatever you want a second time, including feign death to prevent dying and running through quests to pick up that item you need, and of course self heals from chimera shot. It isn't much, I know, but it is enough that you don't have to stop.. since your pet will be taking the majority of the damage.Bandethttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02011959819376851966noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6269553831969325196.post-21556552154762707822010-12-03T05:09:00.000-08:002010-12-03T05:37:31.643-08:00Lions, Tigers, and Bears! Oh my!

You are probably wondering what pet to use, and which pets stand out. Allow me to assist you.

PvE: I generally go between the Cat, Wolf, and Raptor in that order. I use whatever the group doesn't have. In case you didn't know, cat provides horn of winter, wolf LoTP, and raptor is sunder armor. As a Sv hunter sunder armor isn't as important, but if you are MM a raptor is more important. You can also get a wind serpent for 8% magic damage, ravager for 4% physical damage, or a hyena for 30% bleed damage. These won't be as beneficial as the others I think. (Except maybe for a wind serpent as SV) but you should get one on the off-chance that your group has all the other buffs.

If they have everything, you might consider a pet that reduces the damage on the tank. A fox or plainstrider reduces attack speed by 20% and a carrion bird reduces physical damage of the surrounding targets by 10%. They can be pretty significant differences if your tank needs help.

Rare pets.
This is probably the most striking one. An undead eagle. We all have seen these flying around northrend and were dying to tame one. Now we can.
The only way to get this particular "beauty" is by doing a quest in the WPL. http://www.wowhead.com/npc=44481#objective-of Shows the bird in question while http://www.wowhead.com/quest=26953 is the first quest in the chain.

Corehound fans, you have a brand new best in show. We got Chromaggus, the prismatic dragon-hound thing from BWL. Be warned though, this cannot be tamed solo and you will need help.

Foxes. Yes we all love them and they are so cute, and 95% of the huntard population has one, and it is the new staple for "huntard" as cat has been for the past 2 expansions. But if you want one, get the rare one that every huntard cant. This beauty is called Ashtail, and it spawns here. http://www.wowhead.com/npc=45380 The spawn time is 45 minutes so there is probably a wait, but nothing as horrible as a spirit beast.

Shows the exact spawn point.

Monkeys! They are awesome, and make funny sounds when attacking. What is not to love? Oh, and they are currently the best PvP pet ever with a 4 second stun (that will be nerfed, to the ground baby, in the near future)
Which monkey is the best?! Well, the ones with pickaxes of course! You can tame them in the deadmines. If you want a normal non-weaponized monkey, they roam around northern stranglethorn.

A unique BM pet. I know right? They are supposed to be unique but this one stands out with the unique crowd. Here we have a worm. If you are raiding as BM I would suggest you grab one of these and/or a chimera for the situations in which you need aoe damage for your raid.

The unique thing about this worm is that it is transparent. You tame it while doing the daily quest for Dun Niffelem. http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=13046

And finally, we have the new ghost wolf! This isn't as unique and striking as the old blue spirit wolf, but it is a sigh of relief from those hideous northrend worgs.

You tame this in eastern plaguelands. You can even tame him with the sword in his head using the kill-tame method used for the oil worgs in borean. http://www.wowhead.com/npc=45450#commentsBandethttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02011959819376851966noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6269553831969325196.post-59730005845059345792010-12-02T16:49:00.000-08:002010-12-02T17:20:38.711-08:00How to gear up in cata.So you are honor point capped and justice point capped and are just waiting for cataclysm with nothing to do.

I found something to do. Crafted gear is actually GOOD as well. Heroics don't drop epics, only blues.

The only things remaining are:
cape
shoulders
gloves
legs
boots
melee weapon
bracers

Now, there will be a blue PvP set available once cata comes out. Cannot find the prices, but they should be the same as the current pvp gear is for honor. The blue set will be bought with honor and the epic set with conquest, which you cant get until over a week in. You also have full justice points to spend.

I decided the best way to go about it would be to buy the shoulders and the legs with JP, and then you only need cape/gloves/boots/and bracers from honor. I currently have no way of knowing the proper costs of these items, as wowhead won't tell me, but currently relentless cape/boots/bracers are all 400-600 each, and there shouldn't be much of a reason for it to be much different as the blue is technically "last season's tier" and there is no last season so it is blue. I doubt you will be able to buy any of the epic pieces off the bat otherwise there would be no purpose for the blues.

Now I have an entire set except for melee weapons. The obvious choice to rectify that would be to run heroic deadmines. 3 different 1hs and a 2hr with hunter stats in one instance. But this is still speculation. The earthen ring faction offers two rare pieces at honored and revered. I don't know what reputations I will be at, or how close I will be once I am 85. I intend on following a leveling guide addon and doing at least 98% of the quests in each zone with it. But provided I am neutral with everyone, this is the path I will follow.

Reputations. Which to get first?
So you know, Ramkahen sells the hunter helmet enchant while Therazane sells the shoulder enchant. Other than that those two factions don't really give us anything juicy. Hellscream's Reach has a lovely trinket, but you cannot get that rep with a tabard and you have to do dailies, so it isn't included. The Earthen ring has an epic ring while guardian's of Hyjal have a pair of epic boots. I will probably go for one of these first due to the fact that I can still use the lvl 80 enchants, and the epic gear will be a bigger upgrade. Also, the value of those epics will decrease over time while the value of the enchants will stay the same, so the quicker you get them the more use you get. As for which of the two first, probably whichever I end up being closer to exalted with.

Also this list included all the hunter gear from heroics so you can have a quick access sheet on which heroic you want to run for what gear you need. That is pretty useful.Bandethttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02011959819376851966noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6269553831969325196.post-13732119346771850772010-12-02T16:48:00.000-08:002010-12-02T16:49:32.537-08:00I killed a frost mageBut it didn't give me a statue in Dalaran. The reason this died mainly was because it was an entire thread devoted to just hunter SV PvP. Not that much to talk about.

So I am getting rid of that. While this shall still be named Temple of Survivalism as a homage to days of yonder, I will extend to all aspects of the class so I will actually have something to talk about.

And the fact that SV is no longer the underdog it isn't as interesting.

P.S. your spec got owned Rilgon, eat it.Bandethttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02011959819376851966noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6269553831969325196.post-79169191566243814962010-09-22T11:56:00.001-07:002010-09-22T12:11:59.821-07:00Yeah Yeah...I barely post here anymore I know... but I just did something so stupid I had to.

Behold! The HUN-TANK!!!

What is the hun-tank, you might be wondering. A quick person might be like oh a hunter tank ha ha ha you are an idiot Bandet... and I probably am. But let me explain the huntank. First off, the huntank isn't actually a tank. Don't think I'm trying to go tackle some instances solo or anything. This is purely PvP.

The Huntank is a SV hunter, in full wrathful gear with every gem + stamina and tons of stamina enchants, as well as 5 points in bm for more hp. I also wear two brewfest trinkets for the stamina (I'll get a corroded skeleton key soon as I get 13 more frosties. I haven't found I needed a PvP trinket as of yet, the excessive health pool kind of makes me immune to stunlocks. Rogues dislike me.

How it works!

You may be thinking that is stupid it doesn't work because you don't hurt. Wrong! An experienced SV hunter knows about Hunter Vs. Wild, a talent that gives 30% of your stamina to attack power. I'm at 3526 stamina unbuffed. That is 44524 hp. I also have fortitude, kings, food and health flasks. That puts me at 51423 hp, and about 62000 in a bg with a battle standard down. With improved fort, kings, and motw I can reach 64000. As a hunter. Thats right. I have more hp than your guilds MT.

With self-buffs I sit at 6412 AP and 45% crit chance and 1153 resilience. That is of course not including expose weakness or hunter's mark, blood fury or my Icc ring proc, or master tactician. Not bad right? I can assure you that I do in fact hurt.

In bgs my PET has more health than anyone else. People laugh at me saying I am another huntard, then they step back in awe as I dominate the scoreboard, with maybe one or two deaths. (Despite the health pool, I have no way to heal myself. It would take 10 bandages, and over 2 full foods to get back all my hp, not to mention my pet who has 37k and heals 5k over 15 seconds.) As you would guess this works extremely well for WSG flag running when I have heals. I'm extremely hard to burst down, it takes some time, and I always have deterrence. It works very well in duels, because the best way to kill a hunter is to burst it down before it burts you down. It doesn't help versus healers however.. Because I can't burst them down. It just annoys them. Not that I could burst a holy pally down in my full PvE gear anyways. I have tried.

I guess that is all. Maybe I'll make another BG movie of the dreaded HUNTANK!Bandethttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02011959819376851966noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6269553831969325196.post-6089282647388214722009-10-08T14:18:00.001-07:002009-10-08T14:19:42.609-07:00New Movie!Know many have been waiting for this, so here it is:

http://www.filefront.com/14681109/WTF2s.wmv/

However, it is quite short.. and lacks much editing, mainly because I didn't have many season 6 clips to work with so I didn't go all out.

At any rate. Enjoy.Bandethttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02011959819376851966noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6269553831969325196.post-42678810319237457522009-06-18T13:21:00.000-07:002009-06-18T16:53:18.030-07:00Tips N TriXFirst off, let it be known that the bird of prey is now superior to the crab for PvP.

First off, it has roar of sacrifice, like the tenacity pets had before. So what makes the bird better?
Obviously, as a cunning pet, it does more damage than a tenacity, that is just gravy though, what makes it better is the fact that it has roar of recovery as well, which restores 30% of your mana.

Not only that, but it has a built in -60% crit resilience when under 35% hp. It also has a -4% crit to all melee attacks, and it has a disarm to boot.

IMO the disarm is superior to the root in skilled hands. Usually I will utilize it when a rogue cheap shots me, thus he will not be able to kidney shot me, and I can escape, saving my trinket. This also is a lifesaver when you are fighting the infamous retardin, and your trinket is down. Just disarm him when you are stunned, and that will reduce the burst significantly. Couldn't do either of those with good ol krabby, can ya? They would be rooted, while you are stunlocked anyways.

HOWEVER!! if you do enjoy the snare too much to give up, there IS another option. Grab yourself a spider, which has the same talent tree as the bird, and it has a ranged snare ability instead of the disarm. At any rate, the crab is obsolete.

Versus other classes:

You know I don't have strategies versus certain things, I just roll with it and adapt, however, I do certain things to negate a specifically powerful ability that another class has that I know will be used constantly. With that being said, here are some tips I use versus various classes.

Rogue:

I pretty much already said this one before, using the pets disarm to stop the kidney shot. That can almost always be done, sadly, the one drawback happens when a rogue pops evasion in order to dodge the scatter shot which he knows is going to happen right after kidney shot goes off and you trinket it. Some rogues pop it beforehand so they don't have to later, but the better rogues will pop it later in order to extend the active duration in which they will actually be getting attacked. If this happens, generally I'd go ahead and pop roar of sacrifice and tank the kidney shot (you didn't pop it on the cheap shot, because if the disarm worked, you would like to save it for the kidney shot which will happen once he eventually gets to you) You don't trinket this one, because eventually he will vanish or blind you and stealth, and your trinket is up for the second round of stuns.

Warrior:

Kind of annoying, but ironic at the same time. What you have to do is just drop frost traps and kite him in HIS deadzone, 5-8 yards (minimum rage of charge) Takes a bit of practice, but once you got it down there isn't much they can do to stop it. Also, you can toss a wyvern sting at 'em then run back a bit, shoot something and pop deterrence, he will charge you and it wont stun you, and then you just run off, and repeat the process.

Retlol:

Pretty simple, to be honest. All you have to do is trinket the stun. They will repentance and you will get hit once or twice, but it shouldn't matter, just use roar when you get it. The fight will take a little while, so keep purging everything. If he is good, he will keep healing himself, so just keep aimed shot on him and keep running. It won't take him long to oom himself if he isn't hitting you, and he won't get replenishment if he doesn't hit you. Go ahead and wyvern him after the bubble to get a bandage in.

DK:

Don't disengage. Save it till they death grip, then disengage and drop a frost while in the air, it will land ontop of him (yay) and he will be without any means to slow you, save chains of ice. Most likely he already popped anti-magic shell and cant use it. Once he gets close to you, Wyvern sting, and run away, back towards him and over the frost trap.

I'll poast moar later.Bandethttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02011959819376851966noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6269553831969325196.post-90430393793013106042009-06-17T10:38:00.000-07:002009-06-17T10:49:18.091-07:00Back in businessWell. Yeah. I'm uh.. here again.

I'm currently on Anub'arak under the name Bownage. I have returned to my roots, horde at least, and am now a troll hunter. Great name right?

Anyways, I'm still rocking the SV spec, however flavorless it is compared to what it was, I do have my furious weapons, however I don't have enough rating for the shoulders.. yet, but it will be soon. Curse this full hateful set. Not only is every match stacked against me because I am a hunter, but everyone outgears me too. But that is what I like, you know? I have always been the man to fight an uphill battle and come out of it victor.

I actually do have a DK now, like most PvP hunters, but it is so boooo-ring to play him. It is like z0mg use icy touch and then use plague strike.. NOW HIT SCOURGE TILL YER FINGERZ FALL OFF. Obviously an exxageration, but you get the idea. I am actually raiding ulduar as well on my hunter, also SV spec. My guild is not the best, but they have been around since vanilla due to the way they run it. They don't put up with epeen BS that kills most guilds and they have an actual process, as well as being more casual. They actually accepted my app when I was in almost full pvp gear and no PvE gear, as well as the drakemounted lolbow, and now they are being rewarded with a new #1 dps. Allright.. enough with the e-peen waggling...

But, I feel obligated to include some pro tips in this post, since that is what most of you are here for, however I will include that in my next post for the sake of better organization. Also, I have been back for a while, but deciding to post here again was more of a spur of the moment thing, and I need to gather my thoughts for a useful post.Bandethttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02011959819376851966noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6269553831969325196.post-46244440921991166052009-02-16T20:33:00.001-08:002009-02-16T20:34:41.838-08:00Lol.Yeah, haven't posted here in a while because the blog is officially dead and I am not playing WoW.. but I figured id give it a post because I'm doing wow-related things.

Its nothing relevant.. I activated my account with a 10 day wotlk trial so I can post on the forums.. Its mostly just me flaming newschool hunters and noob rogues who are saying hunters are op.Bandethttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02011959819376851966noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6269553831969325196.post-54449670343640774582008-11-21T20:40:00.000-08:002008-11-21T20:47:03.249-08:00The Bitter endAlright.. yeah..

I'm playing Warhammer now. If you recall I only came back to WoW because I liked the hunter changes for WoTlk.. but they fucked it up as they always do.. so..

Basically all info on hunters in this guide is worthless now and has been ever since 3.0, and I will not be able to post any new info seeing as I don't play anymore. The general "Survivalism" game play strategy is no longer viable in PvP (this is my experience in 3.0, and I have no knowledge of 80.)

Survival spec is not what it used to be.

To those who attempt to follow the path of Survivalism past Wotlk and to 80, my hat is off to you. I hope it will work out for you, but as for me and this blog.. is no more. Feel free to come here whenever you feel nostalgic, or just want to remember better times. I might finish the compilation video when I have more time.Bandethttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02011959819376851966noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6269553831969325196.post-12768262454609146802008-10-31T19:10:00.000-07:002008-10-31T19:19:03.821-07:00Lulz?Know I've been away.. school ETC.

Also.. I'm working on my new video.. It's basically going to be a tribute to the golden days of WoW PvP, and changes over the years. It will include footage from all my movies, including new dwarf clips, and footage from the short period in which I was named "Lagspike" and made a movie, however, the movie turned out pretty crappy so I don't host it anymore.. but there is a few good clips that I took out of it.

It is kind of interesting, because it shows the evolution of not only the hunter, but the person playing the hunter. At the start, I am not as good as I am now, I have no addons, and I... click a few skills. *cringe* It then shows how my UI slowly evolved to what it is now, as well as my ability. Also, it is funny to notice at how over three years my keybinds have stayed the same except for minor changes, and additions of new ones for new skills. Infact, the only thing I changed on my dwarf from what I had two years ago was moving viper sting to f4, where scorpid sting was, and moving that to f10, where viper was. I realized this when I was undergeared, and was kiting a mage around a pillar with viper sting, because I would have no chance otherwise, and I could not reach viper sting.. and then later in one clip I mean to scorpid sting a target to remove a dot, so I can trap him.. but by habit, I hit f4, which was viper.. and it totally ruined it, but I salvaged the fight.. I thought it was funny.

It's also for personal reasons.. a lot of my older movies were made when I sucked at editing.... and it will be good to re-do them. Any player who PvP'd at 60 will appreciate the movie, and that is what I'm shooting for.. a movie to bring back the golden days.Bandethttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02011959819376851966noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6269553831969325196.post-176650261596187512008-10-17T16:36:00.000-07:002008-10-17T16:39:54.303-07:00MarksmanshipSo... after playing both SV and MM for PvP.. I can safely say that I am quite pleased with the result of Chimera Shot.. and that exploding arrow sucks. My usual WS/SS spec.. isn't.. well.. the same. I can tear through people with my MM spec without any problems.. I don't have scattershot, but I do have silencing shot, disengage, and readiness (Which, I hardly ever use..)

Blizzard tried, I'll give em that.. but SV sucks now. *Cry*Bandethttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02011959819376851966noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6269553831969325196.post-18296244911900370562008-10-15T15:16:00.000-07:002008-10-15T15:30:36.062-07:00The day has Cometh. All right, well.. so far I don't have much to say. I have mostly been spending my time finding my feet. New skills = new playstyle = new keybinds, plus new skills/mechanics for every other class.. the game has changed. I haven't gotten a chance to do arena yet, since my druid has been away fer like 2 weeks, So I can't say much about that.. I have done a few BG's, but a lot of the times it was like.. something stunning me and a paladin walks up to me, turns shiny, and then WHAM! wheres my hp gone?

Concerning ret paladins:

Alright, they do insane burst.. but in a 1v1 scenario I don't really have any problems.. They repentance you.. you wait.. (you prolly had a trap of some sort to get em as they walk up to you) then you prolly disengage once they get to you if you had a frost, just walk away if its freezing (I prefer frost, because they can't trinket out of it) and then you have lock n load and a aimed shot to pop em with, and they have hit you maybe once.. All they have left is hammer of justice and you have your trinket.. they can't slow you, and will probably die before HoJ is up again. The only thing else they have is BoP (which you can purge) and bubble, to which you basically can just run away, and after its out most likely your trap will be ready again, to which I would use freezing because they probably have HoJ up.. so they stun you and get frozen.. then you just walk off and finish em. Mostly you just have to stay away.. Eye for an eye is annoying when you have 50% crit chance with arcane shot >.>

But yeah, as I said, there are tons to get used to.. For example, I still hit multishot after I use aimed shot.

And what is up with roar of sacrifice? I wish there was an easier way to activate it on myself...Bandethttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02011959819376851966noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6269553831969325196.post-72145023511820915572008-10-08T14:00:00.001-07:002008-10-08T14:21:08.636-07:00Aimed Shot, Barrage, and You.Why does it seem to me that every buff we get is something we have needed for years?

Apparently Blizzard knows that we blow.. Ghostcrawler has flat out said we suck in arenas multiple times. They try to fix the problems by tiny little tweaks.. which basically all the tweaks are doing is making the class less of a pain in the ass to play, but not as much towards balance, while we don't get anything "new".

The new fun and shiny thing we would have gotten was camo.. but that has not only died, it was hung, beaten, flayed, and then burned, ever so cruelly. It was replaced by the crap sho.. uh.. trap shot. It's good and all that they removed the arming time (which was totally bogus to begin with) but it isn't very much a trap, nor is it hidden.

Dictionary.com says a trap is:

2. any device, stratagem, trick, or the like for catching a person unawares.

Okay, not only are traps not hidden, but the shot makes a pretty blue rainbow and then makes a frost nova when it lands.. totally inconspicuous.

I know I am beating a dead horse with trap shot.. but it's just a great example of "whats not new" Its the exact same as freezing trap.. just with range and a lot more noticeable.. even shares the CD.

Disengage? We needed that, sure, but its not like we haven't been needing it forever.. hunters have never had any escape abilities short of freezing trap, and that was not even an escape ability, it was a CC. We also got masters call.. but it has a longer cooldown than any other snare remover, and requires LoS of your pet, and requires your pet to be alive. It also removes stuns.. but it can't be used while stunned. I won't even bother with that one.

Instant Aimed shot? The moment arenas entered we needed this one.. honestly anyone who got hit by an aimed shot was either CC'd or a moron. The need for this increased once we got a MS effect on the shot... which made it the worst MS in the game. It also got its damage removed with a swift kick to the groin. "It will do more damage than multi-shot" they said.. it didn't. Granted, in the end, the new aimed shot will do more damage than the old one, since you can actually get it off whenever you want, including being able to jump shot it, but our burst is gone.. they just replaced multi-shot in our burst rotation with aimed shot. We are "Casters" thus we should have burst.. but we don't anymore.

Deterrence? I asked for that buff at level sixty. Hunters never had caster mitigation, and now we still don't. Deterrence WAS a good buff, but they nerfed it. I guess a worse ability than CloS on a five times as long CD is op.

Scatter shot? I like this change personally, although in the end it does absolutely NOTHING for me, since I feel explosive shot is fail and I would rather get scatter over it anyways, now, instead of getting scatter over explosive shot, I'll get readiness over explosive shot. It needs to be trainable.

Tranq shot? You can't tell me the first time a hunter got this book from luci they haven't wanted it to dispel frenzy/enrage effects in PvP too, or remove rage/energy. This change is only like 5 years late.

Basically, hunters in WoTLK = we get everything we have been needing for years (Except caster mitigation, bastards.) but nothing new and shiny.Bandethttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02011959819376851966noreply@blogger.com1
